Before ending a San Francisco tenancy

Before you decide
- A fixed-term lease ending is not itself a just cause under the Ordinance.
- Do not use lockouts, utility shut-offs or removal of belongings to recover possession. A contested eviction requires the court process and enforcement by the sheriff.
- A defective notice, missing warning, relocation or filing requirement can defeat an eviction. Verify the applicable requirements before acting.
